About the role
The Department of Surgical Technology at LSU seeks a dedicated Instructor to deliver classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction. The position supports curriculum delivery across Alexandria, Lafayette, and surrounding areas while fostering student success.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver 50% of workload through didactic, laboratory, and clinical teaching, including remedial plans.
- Develop, implement, and proctor assessments covering program and course learning outcomes (25%).
- Create instructional materials, course outlines, and clinical experiences (15%).
- Provide academic advising, transcript tracking, and student retention support (5%).
- Participate in departmental, divisional, and university committees, with occasional travel to Eunice and Lafayette campuses (5%).
Required profile
- Associate's degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited program.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential.
- At least 2 years recent experience in an operating room first‑scrub role or as a surgical technology instructor.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5 years of combined clinical/instructional experience.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Learning Management System (LMS).
- Experience using Exam Soft for assessments.
- Familiarity with Trajecsys for clinical tracking.
