Instructor / Assistant Professor in Forest Business

About the role

The University of Arkansas at Monticello seeks an Instructor/Assistant Professor to join its Center for Forest Business. The position involves teaching, industry outreach, and applied research focused on forest business, economics, and management.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in forest business, economics, and management (approximately 40% of effort).
• Provide outreach and technical support to Arkansas’s forest industry, fostering sustainable economic growth (approximately 40%).
• Conduct applied research in forest business that addresses regional and Southern U.S. needs (approximately 20%).

Required profile

• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in forest economics, finance, business, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in at least one area: forest economics/policy, forest finance/appraisals/taxation, forest management/certification, or forest engineering/operations.
• Experience or background in practical forestry work is preferred.
• Ability to collaborate closely with industry partners.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GIS software.
• Familiarity with infographic or factsheet creation tools such as Canva.
