Instructional Assistant (SEL Classroom) – St. Helens

About the role

The Northwest Regional Education Service District is seeking two Instructional Assistants to support the SEL (Social‑Emotional Learning) classroom at Meadowlark Academy, located within Lewis & Clark Elementary in St. Helens. This entry‑level position works under the guidance of licensed staff to deliver individualized instruction and ensure student safety.

Key responsibilities

• Implement program activities planned by licensed personnel.
• Provide one‑on‑one or small‑group instruction, focusing on IEP and IFSP goals.
• Supervise student behavior and safety across classroom and related settings.
• Assist with classroom setup, including lifting students from wheelchairs and moving equipment.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to lift students from a wheelchair to the floor and back.
• Child Care Central Background Registry clearance.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Spanish language ability is preferred but not required.

Required skills

• Current CPR certification and training in blood‑borne pathogens.
• Proficiency with computer and internet applications, including email, Google Suite, and Microsoft Word.
