Industrial Painter & Crater

About the role

Armstrong Fluid Technology, a manufacturer of fluid-flow technology with facilities on four continents, is hiring an Industrial Painter & Crater in North Tonawanda. This dual-role position combines woodworking skills for crate construction with industrial painting responsibilities. You will build protective wooden shipping crates and prepare, paint and finish metal surfaces in a controlled environment, ensuring products are properly finished and safely transported.

Key responsibilities

• Build custom wooden shipping crates to protect machines during transport, measuring and cutting lumber to specification and assembling them with fasteners, reinforcements and bracing.
• Install cushioning, foam or other protective materials inside crates so they meet shipping regulations.
• Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding and masking, and board and mask material.
• Operate and maintain paint booths and related equipment.
• Apply primers, basecoats and topcoats with spray guns or other methods, then inspect painted surfaces for quality and consistency.
• Follow safety protocols, keep the work area clean and organized, and perform additional tasks as needed.

Required profile

• Eligible to work in the United States and able to read, write and communicate in English.
• 1 year of experience in woodworking, carpentry, crate building or industrial painting.
• Able to wear a respirator for the entire shift and to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, standing for long periods.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Required skills

• Basic computer tasks.
• Ability to practice 5S methodology (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
