Indirect Tax Senior

About the role

Zillow Group is seeking a senior tax professional to lead U.S. indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions. The role balances a high volume of recurring filing work with opportunities to improve processes, controls, and automation tools in a fast‑moving environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare workpapers, tax returns and remit U.S. indirect taxes including sales & use, B&O, excise, gross receipts, personal property and local taxes.
• Manage exemption certificate preparation, maintenance and filing calendars across jurisdictions.
• Record monthly and quarterly indirect tax journal entries, perform reconciliations and support GL reporting.
• Maintain and enhance indirect tax automation tools, primarily Avalara.
• Calculate and document ASC 450 tax contingency positions and reserves.
• Research tax issues, respond to tax notices and assist with data collection.
• Document internal tax controls, policies and partner with internal departments to gather required data.

Required profile

• Strong technical aptitude with a solid understanding of U.S. indirect tax regulations.
• Accountable, detail‑oriented problem solver who can manage high‑volume compliance work.
• Intellectually curious and able to adapt to an evolving tax landscape.
• Effective communicator who can collaborate with finance teams and external advisors.
