Indirect Tax Compliance Lead

About the role

We are a fast‑growing VC‑backed tax technology startup seeking an Indirect Tax Compliance Lead. You will own the end‑to‑end indirect tax filing and compliance process across many jurisdictions, becoming a key operational pillar within our tax function.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the Head of Tax to manage the monthly and periodic indirect tax filing cycle for thousands of returns worldwide.
• Coordinate filing timelines, deliverables, and cross‑functional collaboration with internal teams.
• Review and oversee filings to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely submission.
• Support reconciliation and control processes across the compliance function.
• Design and implement scalable compliance processes that support international growth.
• Work closely with Engineering and Product teams to enhance automation within the compliance workflow.
• Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency.
• Build robust controls and processes to minimise compliance risk.

Required profile

• Strong indirect tax compliance experience across multiple jurisdictions.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work accurately in high‑volume environments.
• Strong organisational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Clear and concise communication skills, especially in fast‑moving settings.
• Deep understanding of reconciliations, controls, and operational compliance processes.
• Comfortable working in a scale‑up environment where processes evolve continuously.
• Experience with automation, systems, or technology‑driven compliance processes is a plus.
