Indirect Tax Analyst

About the role

Public Storage is seeking an Indirect Tax Analyst to join its Indirect Tax team at the corporate office in Frisco, TX. The analyst will provide advanced analytical support, assist with complex compliance activities, and act as a key resource for the Indirect Tax Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in managing Business Tangible Personal Property Tax and Unclaimed Property compliance, including data preparation, return review, and coordination with external partners.
• Maintain and validate asset and property tax data to ensure accurate and timely filings.
• Support audit activities by gathering documentation, preparing responses, and tracking auditor requests.
• Review tax assessments and prepare preliminary analyses for potential appeals.
• Research state and local tax regulations to support compliance strategies and identify assessment reduction opportunities.
• Prepare and submit Excess Proceeds claims with applicable jurisdictions.
• Monitor and reconcile monthly balances for indirect tax accounts, identify discrepancies and recommend corrections.
• Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules for month‑end and quarter‑end close.
• Collaborate with Accounting, Real Estate, and Operations teams to resolve tax‑related issues.
• Provide backup support to team members and contribute to departmental process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3–4 years of experience in indirect tax, property tax, or related accounting functions.
• Strong understanding of financial statements and familiarity with property or real estate terminology.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
