Hydrographic Processing Specialist

About the role

Woolpert is seeking a Hydrographic Processing Specialist to join its Hydrographic Survey team in Port Orchard, WA (or Wasilla, AK). The role focuses on converting raw marine survey data into accurate, defensible deliverables that support engineering design, permitting, and construction.

Key responsibilities

• Process multibeam and single‑beam hydrographic data using QPS Qimera, including cleaning, refraction correction, and surface generation.
• Perform side‑scan sonar processing and interpretation with SonarWiz, creating mosaics, gain normalization, and target classification.
• Export processed datasets to AutoCAD Civil 3D for bathymetric surface creation, contouring, volume calculations, and surface comparisons.
• Integrate data from multiple sensors (multibeam, side‑scan, sub‑bottom, GNSS, LiDAR) and support seabed characterization workflows.
• Conduct QA/QC checks, document workflows, and improve internal processing standards.
• Collaborate with project managers, field teams, and technical leads to meet schedules and support proposal development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in surveying, geomatics, ocean engineering, geology, geography, marine science or related field.
• At least 3 years of experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D for surface development and plan production.
• Strong understanding of hydrographic survey principles and geospatial data workflows.
• Detail‑oriented with the ability to manage multiple datasets and deadlines.
