HVAC Technician IV

About the role

Amentum is looking for an HVAC Technician IV to join its 2nd Shift team in Peoria, Illinois. Hours may vary with business demand, and weekend hours may be scheduled to support a 24/7 operation. The technician keeps buildings, facilities and equipment in working order, including refrigeration repairs, troubleshooting and air handler maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning, pumps, fans, compressors and other mechanical equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC control and operating systems through the CMMS.
• Handle electrical repairs or installations, plumbing, welding, machine servicing and general mechanical maintenance.
• Provide service and feedback to customers on work orders while complying with codes, regulations and industry standards.
• Recommend improvements to maintenance methods and equipment performance, and coordinate with outside contractors.
• Follow safety rules such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout and PPE, and meet code and building standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5 years of experience in the area of specialization.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and stairs repeatedly, kneel and reach repetitively, and walk extensively.
• Willingness to work overtime, holidays and weekends, and to obtain a security access badge.
• Valid driver's license may be required; no sponsorship for U.S. work authorization is offered.

Required skills

• Strong mechanical and electrical skills.
• Use of a company-approved utility knife and aerial lifting equipment.
• Differentiating wire colours and following colour-coding.
