Human Resources Manager (HR)

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a seasoned Human Resources Manager to lead HR support staff and provide strategic employee‑relations guidance. This role partners with managers and employees to improve workplace relationships, morale, and retention while ensuring compliance with university policies and employment law.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise HR support staff to deliver timely HR services.
• Advise employees and managers on employee‑relations practices, policies, and procedures.
• Conduct work environment assessments and recommend improvements.
• Lead complex employee‑relations investigations, summarize findings, and present recommendations.
• Facilitate regular meetings with business units to support strategic objectives and continuous improvement.
• Ensure personnel actions comply with university policies and applicable employment laws.
• Assist with departmental restructuring, succession planning, job description development, and salary negotiations.
• Maintain accurate HR data in the ERP system and generate analytical reports.
• Manage special projects such as employee recognition programs and committee participation.
• Assess and reinforce internal controls and policy compliance across the unit.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant HR experience.
