Human Resources Intern - Summer 2027

About the role

Meijer offers an 11-week summer internship program for Human Resources interns in Grand Rapids. Interns work with Corporate HR partners across the business, analyzing data, recommending improvements to process efficiency and helping communicate HR initiatives. They may also gain exposure to Talent Management, Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition and HR Generalist functions.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze data and recommend ways to improve process efficiencies
• Assist in communicating HR initiatives
• Talent Management: learn how culture and team members drive success, and help create tools and resources that support culture and growth
• Total Rewards: act as liaison between in-store team members and the Corporate Compensation, Benefits, Leave and HR Analytics teams
• Talent Acquisition: screen applications, interview candidates and support onboarding and orientation
• HR Generalist: advise on coaching and feedback, use systems and reports to identify store needs and make recommendations to operations partners

Required profile

• Progress toward a bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Resources, Labor & Industrial Relations, Organization Development or a related field
• Good research and analytical skills, logical approach to problem solving, and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Preferred: 2-4 years of professional experience, with HR experience most desirable

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Familiarity with HRMS systems Workday and Kronos is preferred
