Human Resources Generalist

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Human Resources Generalist to support daily HR operations for a growing Architecture/Engineering firm with over 2,100 employees across several states. The role will be based in one of our offices in Rochester, NY, Albany, NY or Charlotte, NC and will report to the Human Resources Director.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to employee inquiries on HR policies, procedures, and employment matters.
• Assist managers and staff with HR forms, documentation, and personnel processes.
• Administer new‑hire onboarding (30‑60‑180 day check‑ins) and off‑boarding, including exit interviews and separation paperwork.
• Maintain I‑9 compliance, manage immigration documentation, and coordinate unemployment processes.
• Support employee‑relations activities, including performance management documentation and workplace investigations.
• Maintain accurate employee data in the HRIS, perform regular audits, and generate reports for leadership.

• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Customer‑service oriented and able to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast‑paced professional services environment.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
