HRIS and Payroll Systems Consultant

About the role

AlphaGov, a public-sector consulting firm serving cities, counties, school systems, special districts and utilities, is seeking an HRIS and Payroll Systems Consultant for remote, project-based work with public agencies. The engagement is contingent on contract award and final staffing approval, and there is no guaranteed assignment. Work is remote-first with occasional client travel.

Key responsibilities

• Support HRIS and payroll-system pursuits and, when awarded, the related implementation or assessment work.
• Review agency HR, time, payroll and position-control processes against the proposed system.
• Plan configuration, parallel payroll testing and conversion of employee and position data.
• Identify integrations with finance, timekeeping and retirement or benefits vendors.
• Contribute system qualifications and past-performance narrative to proposals only when naming is authorized.
• Support agency payroll parallel runs and go-live readiness.
• Separate what has been implemented from what has only been advised on.

Required profile

• Hands-on HRIS or payroll-system implementation for an employer with complex pay rules, as a functional lead or senior consultant.
• Able to name the HRIS or payroll product delivered.
• Comfortable as a 1099 project-based collaborator, with occasional client travel.

Nice to have

• Public-sector or school-system payroll experience, including bargaining-unit pay rules.
• Experience working across more than one HRIS product, not just a single vendor.
