HR Generalist – Hybrid (New York)

About the role

British Airways is seeking an HR Generalist to join its People team in Manhattan, New York. Working in a hybrid model, you will act as a trusted first‑line HR partner, delivering accurate guidance, managing HR data and systems, and ensuring high‑quality support for colleagues across the Americas.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consistent, high‑quality HR support on policies, processes and systems.
• Advise managers and employees, aiming to resolve queries at first contact.
• Manage HR systems and digital records, including ADP, to keep lifecycle data accurate and compliant.
• Prepare compliance reports and support legislative, regulatory and CBA obligations.
• Monitor vendor interfaces and escalate issues as needed.
• Handle daily payroll, benefits and retiree queries.
• Administer benefits such as Workers’ Compensation, 401k, pension, leaves and life insurance.
• Maintain union‑related records, seniority lists, job bids and pay calendars.
• Assist with immigration and international assignment processes.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement and process‑enhancement initiatives.

Required profile

• Credible HR professional with strong judgement and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to handle sensitive situations with integrity and confidentiality.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused mindset and excellent written and verbal communication.
• Highly organized and able to thrive in a fast‑moving environment.

Required skills

• Experience with HRIS platforms, specifically ADP.
• Solid understanding of HR policies, procedures and compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of employment law, data protection and confidentiality standards.
• Experience managing benefits programmes and preparing HR reports.
