HR Business Partner – R&D (San Jose)

About the role

The HR Business Partner will serve as a strategic advisor for TikTok's Research & Development security, privacy, and trust teams. Working across global time zones, you will help shape people strategies that enable rapid adaptation to regulatory and security challenges while fostering an innovative culture.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with leadership to design and execute HR strategies aligned with engineering, security, and privacy roadmaps.
• Provide end‑to‑end HRBP support for a global department, handling generalist and business partner duties across multiple regions.
• Coach leaders on organizational design, talent assessment, career pathing, and succession planning for specialized technical roles.
• Lead proactive resolution of complex employee‑relations issues worldwide, mitigating risk and preserving psychological safety.
• Oversee full‑cycle performance management, tailoring goal‑setting and calibration for technical outcomes.
• Use people analytics to deliver insights on team health, retention bottlenecks, and scaling needs.
• Collaborate with global HR peers and Centers of Excellence to create customized compensation, engagement, and talent acquisition solutions.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of HR experience, including at least 2 years as an HR Business Partner.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin to work effectively with APAC stakeholders.
• Proven ability to build trust with technical leaders and navigate ambiguous, fast‑changing environments.
• Strong judgment in complex situations and a commitment to core HR principles.
