Housekeeping Supervisor II

About the role
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is seeking a full‑time, non‑exempt Housekeeping Supervisor II to lead a large team of housekeepers. Reporting to general supervision, you will ensure that building interiors are clean, orderly, and presentable while supporting the university’s commitment to a safe and welcoming environment.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate cleaning activities, set priorities, plan schedules, assign tasks, and inspect work to maintain quality standards.
- Train, evaluate, and provide ongoing guidance to housekeeping personnel.
- Review housekeeping and custodial programs, advising management on policy improvements.
- Oversee cleaning of furnishings, windows, tiles, fixtures, equipment, and floors; ensure proper sanitization of bathrooms.
- Manage refuse removal and proper disposal.
- Maintain adequate supplies, materials, and equipment; handle purchasing documentation, vendor selection, and ordering processes.
- Mix cleaning solutions according to specifications and load service carts for distribution.
- Perform housekeeper duties as needed, including moving furniture and equipment.
Required profile
- Physical ability to bend, stoop, reach, carry, and lift heavy items; willingness to work in adverse weather and wear personal protective equipment.
- Capability to operate a variety of office and cleaning equipment.
- Strong knowledge of housekeeping tools, equipment maintenance, and chemical selection/application.
- Experience providing guidance and training to a large housekeeping unit.
