Hotel General Mechanic

About the role

The Hotel General Mechanic supports the maintenance of hospital and clinic facilities, performing repairs, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of electro‑mechanical systems. This position works on a rotating shift schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair minor electrical, mechanical, and plumbing issues such as unclogging lines, replacing bulbs, fixing faucets, and performing touch‑up painting.
• Maintain specialty systems including nurse call, fire alarm, medical gas, television, and ceiling systems.
• Complete preventive maintenance inspections according to scheduled checkpoints and document work performed.
• Assist other hospital and clinic departments with daily maintenance and support services, and respond to emergency calls.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or company training preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience in commercial, industrial, or hospital maintenance, or completion of the Ochsner Apprenticeship program.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work on‑call for emergencies.
• Physical ability to lift and move objects up to 100 lb and work in confined spaces.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC‑R, and carpentry trades.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
• Experience performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting electro‑mechanical systems.
