Hotel Accountant

About the role

An experienced Hotel Accountant is sought to support U.S.-based hospitality operations. The role covers day-to-day accounting for one or more hotel properties, month-end close, financial reporting and reconciliation, with a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting activities for one or multiple hotel properties.
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit card transactions and balance sheet accounts.
• Monitor hotel revenues, occupancy reports, ADR and financial performance metrics.
• Maintain accurate accounts payable and accounts receivable records.
• Review and reconcile revenue streams such as room revenue, food and beverage, events and other services.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal financial controls, support external audits and tax requests, and work with operations leaders and corporate finance teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 3+ years of hotel accounting experience supporting U.S.-based hotel operations.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
• Advanced English communication skills (written and verbal).
• Preferred: multi-property hotel accounting experience, shared services or remote accounting experience, and a CPA or CPA candidate.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and financial analysis.
• Month-end close, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Preferred: M3 Accounting, Oracle Hospitality, Opera PMS, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, QuickBooks.
