Host/Hostess – The Café

About the role

As the first point of contact for guests at The Café, you will create a warm and professional first impression, embodying the signature New Orleans hospitality that Fairmont New Orleans is known for. You will manage the flow of guests through the dining room, ensuring smooth seating, accurate wait times, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Key responsibilities

• Greet and welcome guests upon arrival, providing a positive first impression.
• Manage reservations, seating assignments, waitlists, and guest preferences using the designated reservation system.
• Escort guests to their tables, present menus, and communicate relevant information about The Café.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of menu items, daily features, beverages, coffee and espresso selections, and restaurant amenities.
• Coordinate with servers, culinary staff, and management to ensure smooth service flow and timely table rotations.
• Communicate estimated wait times accurately and handle guest expectations during high‑volume periods.
• Answer telephone calls professionally, assisting with reservations and guest inquiries.
• Respond to guest requests, concerns, and special accommodations with discretion and professionalism.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand, entrance, waiting areas, and dining spaces.
• Assist with VIP guests, special occasions, hotel events, and elevated guest experiences.
