Hospital Medical Technologist – Night Shift

About the role

The Pathology Department at the University of Miami is seeking a full‑time Medical Technologist (Level 2) to work the night shift. You will perform microbiological, molecular and immunological testing on patient specimens, supporting accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Key responsibilities

• Verify specimen identification, prepare samples, and handle all specimens safely.
• Perform and interpret microbiology, molecular biology, and immunology tests.
• Research and compile patient data for pathologist review.
• Calibrate laboratory equipment, order supplies, and maintain inventory.
• Identify test inconsistencies, take corrective actions, and assist coworkers in problem resolution.
• Conduct quality‑control tests and record results according to procedures.
• Help orient and train new laboratory staff.
• Follow university policies and safeguard assets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in laboratory sciences or a related field.
• Current Florida Medical Technologist license.
• Minimum two years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, and rotating weekends.
