Home Services Sales Consultant - Exterior Products

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Home Services Sales Consultant in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to sell its exterior and interior products and services to customers. The role is mostly outside sales: visiting customer homes and trade shows, with the majority of working time spent traveling and away from a dedicated office. It reports to the Sales Manager and has no direct reports.

Key responsibilities

• Make sales calls at customer homes, assess needs, recommend tailored products and negotiate customized price quotes
• Present warranty information and financing options, and maintain profitability
• Complete sales contracts and paperwork, and take measurements to ensure orders meet installation specifications
• Solicit new customers inside assigned stores and at industry events such as Home Shows
• Maintain local relationships, educate store associates on HDIS offerings and raise awareness of HDIS programs
• Seek referrals and attend sales and store team meetings to improve sales techniques

Required profile

• Aged 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• High school diploma or GED; 1+ year of related work experience preferred
• Typical overnight travel of 5% of the time; must stand or walk continuously and lift moderate-weight items (8-20 pounds)
• Exposure to dust, fumes or odors; no prior leadership experience required

Preferred qualifications

• Prior in-home or virtual sales experience
• Prior home improvement industry experience
• Experience generating leads and computer and app skills (email, iPad, apps)
