HIM Associate II

About the role

R1 RCM Inc. is recruiting an HIM Associate II for an onsite position at Ascension IL Alexian Brothers in Elk Grove Village. The associate delivers customer service to patients, healthcare professionals and payers while keeping patient information confidential, and prepares, scans and organizes medical record information. The role covers two HIM sites and requires flexibility with the schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Chart check-in, reconciliation and follow-up of missing documentation
• Prepping, scanning, indexing and quality control validation of medical records
• Ensuring resolution of health record deficiencies meets regulatory compliance, legal standards and reimbursement needs
• Assisting with physician relinquishment, faxing, reporting and auditing
• Assisting with DNFB functions to obtain documentation needed for coding and billing
• Daily prep and scanning of patient medical records, meeting productivity and quality standards
• Quality audits of the legal medical record across multiple systems
• General office duties such as filing, printing, faxing, answering phones and assisting customers

Required profile

• Flexibility to cover two HIM sites and a high attention to detail
• Strong data entry skills and organization
• Ability to use knowledge of Health Informatics to run error analysis and recommend solutions
• Professionalism and discretion with confidential protected health information

Required skills

• Data entry and report assistance in Microsoft Word, Excel or Google Sheets
• Ability to navigate multiple medical systems to verify completeness of records

The base pay range is $17.60 - $25.25 per hour, depending on role, level, location, experience and education. The employer states it offers a competitive benefits package.
