Customer Service Representative - Patient Registration (PRN)

About the role

R1, a provider of revenue cycle technology for hospitals, health systems and medical groups, is hiring a Patient Registration Customer Service Representative in Elk Grove Village. You will be the first point of contact for patients checking into the hospital, helping them through the registration process with accuracy and compassion. The shift is PRN, with a minimum of 48 hours a month required and 24 hours on call; additional shifts are available.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for patients, handling phone calls and computer-based check-ins
• Register patients efficiently across multiple computer systems
• Answer phones and gather accurate information quickly in a fast-paced environment
• Assist patients who may be ill, anxious or confused
• Navigate insurance plans and coverage details with training provided
• Adapt to interruptions from clinical teams during urgent care situations
• Build rapport and ease patient concerns in real time

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• Strong customer service experience
• Ability to pass a background check, drug test and meet vaccination requirements
• Preferred: medical or healthcare experience (not required)
