Highway Maintainer - McLean County, Le Roy Team

About the role

The Illinois Department of Transportation is hiring two Highway Maintainers for the McLean County Le Roy team (Section 517DS) in Le Roy, Illinois. The position is full time, salaried and unionized, working 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday to Friday, fully in the office. It covers maintenance, manufacture and assembly of traffic control devices on state-maintained highways in District 5.

Key responsibilities

• Operate CDL Class A licensed vehicles.
• Perform labor relating to roadway maintenance.
• Assist in snow and ice control during snow and ice conditions.
• Maintain roadside and right-of-way.
• Perform routine housekeeping at headquarters and remove trash, dead animals and debris along highways.
• Maintain on-the-job records and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• A Class A CDL with an "N" or "X" endorsement is required; a copy must be attached to the application.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the State does not sponsor visas.

• The position is subject to a pre-employment physical, and drug and alcohol testing before and after hiring.

What we offer

• Anticipated starting salary of $7,154 per month, with a range of $7,154 to $8,936 per month.
• Full-time, salaried position in the Downstate (Teamsters) bargaining unit.
