Highway Data Manager (Technical Manager IV)

About the role

The State of Illinois, Department of Transportation, is hiring a Highway Data Manager (Technical Manager IV) in Springfield, IL. The position manages highway inventory data activities, including implementing data policies, developing collection, processing and analysis procedures, training staff and coordinating GIS activities. It is also the system owner of the Illinois Roadway Information System (IRIS) and responsible for roadway data files needed for federal submittals and statistical publications. The position is full time, salaried, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday to Friday, with 1 to 5 days per week in the office, and is a union position.

Key responsibilities

• Develop review procedures to ensure the accuracy and validity of the IRIS system file.
• Advise and direct staff to provide consistent and complete support to the districts on procedures for collecting, processing and analyzing highway inventory data.
• Ensure timely submission of all Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) required roadway data.
• Coordinate GIS activities related to highway inventory data.
• Generate roadway data files for required federal data submittals and roadway statistical publications.

Required profile

• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the State does not provide visa sponsorship.
