High School Security Specialist

About the role

The High School Security Specialist supports daily security operations at Tupelo High School. Working closely with the Assistant Security Officer and school administrators, the role ensures a safe, secure, and orderly environment for students, staff, and visitors throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor campus camera systems, adjust views, and report unusual activity or security incidents.
• Oversee issuance, accountability, and visibility of student badges and staff ID badges.
• Manage the visitor management system, ensuring proper check‑in, approval, and identification for all guests.
• Observe crowd behavior in hallways, entrances, exits, and event spaces, and document incidents using video footage.
• Support the Assistant Security Officer and administrators with security‑related needs, including drills and emergency response.
• Identify and recommend improvements for camera placement, coverage gaps, and overall surveillance procedures.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, security management, education, or related field preferred.
• 2–3 years of experience in school security, campus supervision, law‑enforcement support, or a similar field preferred.
• Strong communication, observation, and organizational abilities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a school setting.
• Valid Mississippi driver’s license preferred.
