Health Information Management (HIM) Manager

About the role

R1 RCM Inc. is looking for a Health Information Management (HIM) Manager in Austin. The manager oversees daily HIM operations across assigned facilities, leading staff, managing productivity and quality, and supporting documentation integrity, deficiency management, release of information, amendment requests and medical records operations. The role suits a proactive, solutions-oriented leader who can improve workflows and support multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support HIM staff through hiring, training, scheduling, performance management and daily operations
• Oversee day-to-day HIM functions across assigned facilities, including medical records, release of information and amendment requests
• Drive consistency in HIM tools, processes and best practices across sites
• Partner with leadership, physicians and medical staff to address documentation gaps and improve record completion
• Monitor KPIs and help resolve documentation issues affecting coding, billing or record completion
• Prepare and share performance reports, site visit updates and operational statuses with leadership
• Support regulatory reviews, accreditation readiness and compliance with HIM standards
• Travel between assigned facilities to provide onsite support

Required profile

• Minimum of 4 years of HIM experience, including at least 2 years in a management role
• RHIA or RHIT certification required
• Ability to travel between assigned sites

What we offer

• Base pay range of $69,671 to $125,525 per year, depending on role, level, location, experience and education
• Annual bonus plan at a target of 10%
