Health Consulting Summer Intern - College Program 2027

About the role

Marsh People and Benefits Health Consulting is looking for a summer intern for its 10-week college program in 2027. The internship is based in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Irvine, Denver, Salt Lake City or Phoenix and is hybrid, with at least three days a week in the office. You will help employers navigate the complex world of employee benefits, learning about insurance carriers, benefit coverages, compliance and strategies for managing rising benefit costs.

Key responsibilities

• Help prepare and write client deliverables such as reports, spreadsheets, presentations and employee communications
• Assist senior consultants in reviewing client needs, approaches and implementation strategies
• Collect and interpret benchmarking data from the largest employer-sponsored benefits survey
• Analyze health care claims and utilization data, including cost projections and evaluations
• Model employee benefits contributions to meet employer objectives
• Assist in the Request for Proposal (RFP) process
• Review benefit plan documents and draft legally required benefit forms and statements

Required profile

• Progress towards a bachelor's degree in business, economics, health policy, healthcare administration or a related liberal arts major
• Currently enrolled student with an expected graduation in Fall 2027 or Spring 2028
• Minimum preferred GPA of 3.0/4.0
• Legal work authorization in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship now or in the future

Required skills

• Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Knowledge of data analysis, project management and presentation design
• Excellent communication, organization and attention to detail
