Head Start Teacher (Full‑Time)

About the role

Save the Children is seeking a dedicated Head Start Teacher to lead a preschool classroom. You will design and deliver individualized and group lesson plans that foster social‑emotional, physical, and cognitive development, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for every child.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with developmental milestones.
• Maintain a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate classroom.
• Build strong relationships with families and keep them informed of progress.
• Record observations, assessments, and screenings accurately in paper and online systems.
• Supervise Teacher Assistants, Program Aides, and Volunteers, supporting their professional growth.
• Provide constant supervision during indoor and outdoor activities, including playground safety.
• Collaborate with the Center Director or Manager of Education & Inclusion on classroom operations.

Required profile

• Experience working with preschool‑age children in an educational setting.
• Ability to follow federal, state, and local regulations for Head Start programs.
• Strong communication skills to engage families and team members.
• Commitment to the values of accountability, ambition, collaboration, creativity, and integrity.

Required skills

• Proficiency in creating and adapting lesson plans for early childhood education.
• Competence in maintaining accurate records and documentation.
• Ability to supervise and mentor classroom support staff.
