Head Operator

About the role

We are seeking a Head Operator to lead safe, efficient and environmentally responsible operation of our power plant equipment in Deer Park, Texas. The role oversees plant operators and maintenance staff, ensuring reliable generation and compliance with NRG’s Conduct of Operations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, inspect and monitor gas turbine/generator and associated auxiliary equipment.
• Manage feedwater, condensate, fuel, boiler, water‑treatment and continuous emissions monitoring systems.
• Execute lockout/tagout procedures and respond to plant emergencies.
• Interpret meter and gauge readings, troubleshoot equipment, and generate work requests for repairs.
• Delegate work orders, supervise junior staff and record operational data on shift logs.
• Utilize plant computer systems for data analysis and input.

Required profile

• Experience in operating and supervising power‑plant equipment.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols and environmental regulations.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Willingness to work in both indoor office and outdoor plant environments.
