Head of People Operations

About the role

This senior leadership position will shape and scale the People Operations function for a high‑impact, remote‑first organization at the intersection of AI, data science, and public interest. You will partner with senior leaders to design systems, coach managers, and ensure a world‑class employee experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full People Operations scope: employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, manager development, learning & development, and HR operations.
• Own employee‑relations cases, advise managers, resolve issues, and document high‑risk matters.
• Design and deliver a manager coaching program to strengthen leadership capability and reduce HR escalations.
• Manage full‑cycle recruiting for technical and non‑leadership roles, overseeing sourcing, interview frameworks, candidate experience, and offers.
• Run performance‑management cycles, including system execution, calibration support, and continuous process improvement.
• Build and maintain learning and development initiatives such as onboarding, leadership training, and organization‑wide capability building.
• Oversee HR operations and compliance: HRIS administration, onboarding/offboarding, benefits, and multi‑state employment‑law compliance.
• Analyze people data trends and advise leadership on risks, opportunities, and improvements.

Required profile

• 10+ years of HR experience, with at least 7 years focused on employee relations, talent management, or manager coaching.
• Proven ability to coach managers through complex performance, conduct, and organizational issues with sound judgment.
• Deep knowledge of core HR domains: employee relations, recruiting, performance management, compensation, benefits, and U.S. multi‑state compliance.
• Experience designing and delivering measurable learning and development programs.
• Technical recruiting experience is required.
