About the role
Charge Robotics is seeking a Head of Manufacturing to own the end‑to‑end process of building its solar‑farm robots, from standing up the first production facility to scaling manufacturing for field deployments.
Key responsibilities
- Build, lead and grow a world‑class manufacturing team aligned with company goals and roadmap.
- Operationalize the production facility end‑to‑end, including site readiness, equipment, workflows, safety and staffing.
- Establish and maintain a manufacturing engineering organization that works closely with design engineering to ensure efficient, high‑quality production.
- Own the New Product Introduction (NPI) process to enable smooth handoffs from development to production.
- Partner with supply chain to drive cost‑of‑goods reduction through design‑for‑manufacturing feedback, process optimization and yield improvement.
- Define manufacturing processes, documentation, BOMs, part qualification and supplier quality standards.
- Represent the manufacturing function to employees, customers, executives and investors, and ensure EHS compliance.
Required profile
- 10+ years of professional experience, including 3+ years in a manufacturing leadership role and experience standing up a production facility.
- Proven track record bringing complex electromechanical systems involving metal fabrication, rigging or heavy machinery from prototype to production.
- Strong communication skills across engineers, suppliers, technicians and leadership.
- Based in or willing to relocate to the SF Bay Area and able to work onsite 4‑5 days per week.
- Willingness to travel up to ~20% for field deployments and production site work.
