Head of Data

About the role

Mood is seeking a hands‑on Head of Data to own the end‑to‑end data function, turning data into decisions that improve profitability. You will lead a small team while staying deeply involved in technical work, prioritising initiatives that impact revenue, cost and risk.

Key responsibilities

• Define strategy and roadmap, rank initiatives by impact and manage request intake.
• Own the data warehouse (BigQuery), pipelines (Dataform, Airbyte, dlt, Prefect) and ingestion from business systems.
• Maintain reporting, dashboards and analytics used for decision‑making.
• Develop and maintain attribution models, incrementality tests and server‑side conversion tracking.
• Ensure data quality, access governance and security, especially for sensitive customer data.

Required profile

• 8+ years in data or analytics, with 3+ years leading a data function.
• Hands‑on experience writing SQL and building models in a modern cloud warehouse within the last two years.
• Proven impact of data work on revenue or cost decisions, with quantifiable results.
• Ability to make and defend build‑vs‑buy decisions that reduce tooling or infrastructure costs.
• Strong communication skills for managing up and influencing executives.
