Hardware Development Engineer – PCBA Manufacturing

About the role

The Hardware Development Engineer, PCBA Manufacturing will join SpaceX's Starlink production organization. You will be responsible for developing, managing, and continuously improving the PCBA manufacturing process to ensure high quality and reliability at commercial scale.

Key responsibilities

• Own and manage PCBA manufacturing processes and products for in‑house production.
• Drive volume production activities including execution, non‑conforming product management, configuration control, traceability, and process control.
• Lead new product introductions, collaborating with design engineers and process specialists.
• Select and validate new equipment using process capability analysis, gauge R&R, and other statistical tools.
• Design and implement safety improvements for the PCBA line.
• Maintain work instructions, documentation, and training materials.
• Track schedules, work‑in‑progress, defect rates and identify optimization opportunities.
• Provide feedback to design teams for design‑for‑manufacturability improvements.
• Root‑cause and resolve SMT production and testing issues, driving corrective actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• At least 1 year of experience in manufacturing engineering, SMT, hardware debug/triage, reliability testing, or PCB design/layout.
• Experience in high‑volume production environments (consumer goods, automotive, etc.).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a fast‑paced team.
