Group Underwriting Consultant - RX

About the role

HCSC is hiring a Group Underwriting Consultant for its RX business. The role achieves profit, growth, service and expense objectives through financial analysis and pricing of RX business, including quoting and rating proposals, renewals and annual settlements. It works under minimal supervision as an expert on underwriting, performance guarantees and other financial matters, and is a hybrid position (3 days in the office, 2 days remote) based in Chicago or Richardson, Texas.

Key responsibilities

• Quote and rate proposals and handle renewal projections
• Prepare annual settlements and experience reporting
• Determine pricing and monitor accounts to keep them profitable
• Act as an expert consultant on underwriting, performance guarantees and related financial issues

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in mathematics or accounting
• Minimum of 5 years of underwriting experience
• Knowledge of state and federal legislation governing group health underwriting

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of mathematical applications in underwriting, including discounts, proportions and percentages
• Application of basic business mathematics and algebra to underwriting problems
• Intermediate Excel skills (preferred)
• Experience with major pharmacy benefit managers (PBM) (preferred)

• Base pay range of $92,700 to $167,500, varying with skills, experience and location
