Grocery Team Leader Plus 1 - 2nd Shift

About the role

Meijer is looking for a Grocery Team Leader Plus 1 for the 2nd shift in Delaware. The role plans, directs and supervises team members in the day-to-day operations of the store, acts as mentor and coach, and drives customer service, sales and store appearance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide courteous, friendly and efficient service to customers and team members, spending most of the time in the store.
• Plan staffing, select and hire to meet staffing needs, and promote succession planning through career paths and promotion decisions.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and recommend discharge where needed.
• Be responsible for the P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Mentor and coach team members so they exceed customer service and sales goals and keep the area to Meijer standards.
• Ensure the team is fully trained and has completed all required training.
• Promote a safe work environment and communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational experience in other store areas such as meat, bakery, produce and deli, plus customer service and product flow experience, is helpful.
• Reliable and consistent attendance required.

Required skills

• Clear communication and conflict resolution, addressing root causes.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and analyse financial and statistical information.
• Ability to teach suggestive selling and mentor team members, including hourly workers and team leaders.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.
