Grind Machinist III – 2nd Shift

About the role
Moog is seeking an experienced Grind Machinist III for the 2nd shift at its Buffalo, NY facility. You will work with advanced manufacturing equipment to produce high‑precision aerospace and industrial components, maintaining tight tolerances and high surface finish.
Key responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints, operation sheets, and verbal instructions to grind complex parts.
- Set up and align irregularly shaped workpieces on cylindrical, internal, or surface grinders.
- Select appropriate grinding wheels, dress wheels, and determine optimal speeds and feeds.
- Perform inspections using micrometers, calipers, dial bore gauges, air gages, diatest, V‑blocks, profilometers, angle plates, and electronic gauging equipment.
- Detect defective materials, unusual conditions, and deviations, and report errors.
- Participate in cell planning and problem‑solving activities.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED (preferred) with proven ability to follow written and computer instructions in English.
- At least 4 years of experience as a grind machinist.
- Demonstrated ability to hold tolerances down to .0001 inches.
- Proficiency with measuring equipment and blueprint reading.
Required skills
- Micrometers, calipers, dial bore gauges.
- Blueprint and work‑instruction interpretation.
- Grinding wheel selection, dressing, and operation of cylindrical, internal, and surface grinders.
- Inspection tools: air gages, diatest, V‑blocks, profilometers, angle plates, electronic gauging equipment.
