Grind Machinist – 2nd/3rd Shift

About the role

Moog is seeking a skilled Grind Machinist for its Military Aircraft Group in Buffalo, NY. Working on 2nd and 3rd shifts, you will produce high‑precision components for advanced aerospace and defense programs such as the F‑35, MQ‑25, and FLRAA.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, operation sheets, and verbal instructions to machine complex parts.
• Select appropriate grinding wheels, dress them, and grind components to tight tolerances (.001 ± .0005).
• Use precision measuring equipment to verify dimensions and surface finish.
• Maintain production flow while adhering to FAA safety‑sensitive work regulations.
• Document work performed and ensure compliance with quality standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED preferred; ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
• Minimum 3 years experience as a precision machinist, preferably as a Grind Machinist.
• Demonstrated ability to hold tight tolerances on mission‑critical parts.
• Enrollment in Moog’s FAA Drug & Alcohol Program as required by federal regulations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, and dial bore gauges.
• Blueprint and technical drawing interpretation.
• Grinding wheel selection and dressing.
• Precision grinding techniques.
