Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

IMEG is seeking a new graduate Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Idaho Falls office. You will work with experienced engineers to design HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems for the vertical building industry.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design and analysis of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems using engineering software and BIM tools.
• Interact with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information and maintain professional relationships.
• Support project planning, scheduling and documentation to meet budget and deadline targets.
• Participate in quality control processes and ensure designs meet IMEG, industry and client standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Prior internship experience in building design consulting is preferred.
• Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) certification is a plus.
• Willingness to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays.

Required skills

• Knowledge of thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics as applied to HVAC, plumbing and fire protection.
• Proficiency with HVAC load calculation software and basic BIM tools.
• Strong technical and analytical abilities, attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
