Grading Foreman

About the role

Archer Western Construction is seeking an experienced Grading Foreman for the I‑26/I‑95 Interstate Interchange project in Harleyville, SC. The foreman will lead a crew of 3‑15 workers, oversee grading operations, and ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and to specification.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate crew activities within the assigned grading area.
• Schedule and communicate work plans with other trades to maintain project flow.
• Read and interpret construction plans and specifications to determine grading requirements.
• Locate, measure, and mark site locations using measuring and marking equipment.
• Record personnel, production, and operational data on required forms and reports.
• Assist workers with hand tools and equipment during construction tasks.
• Inspect work progress, equipment, and site conditions to verify safety and compliance.
• Enforce safety protocols and maintain a drug‑free work environment.
• Train and mentor crew members on company policies, safety practices, and procedures.

Required profile

• 5‑8 years of verifiable construction experience; foreman experience preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to manage crews and subcontractors.
• Strong communication skills with crew, project management, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Ability to read and understand work plans and specifications.
• Physical ability to climb scaffolds/ladders, lift up to 50 lb, and work in adverse weather.
• Commitment to safety policies, drug‑free workplace, and strong work ethic.
• Good manual dexterity; able to stand, bend, kneel, or sit for extended periods.
• Pass a pre‑employment drug screening.
