Global Category Manager - Steel & Non-Ferrous Metals

About the role

ABB Installation Products Inc., an ABB company based in Plano, Texas, offers two Global Category Manager positions for Steel & Non-Ferrous Metals, reporting to the Global Procurement & Logistics Manager. The role manages an annual spend of approximately $250 million and leads a category team toward key performance indicators such as cost reduction, better supplier payment terms, reduced sole-sourced spend, improved quality and fulfillment, and annual savings and cash-improvement targets.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and execute category strategies to deliver the best quality, service, technology and pricing for the category.
• Lead the category team to achieve cost reduction, improved average payment terms with suppliers, reduced sole-sourced spend, and better quality and fulfillment from the supply base.
• Plan and drive annual savings and cash-improvement targets by division and plant through sourcing initiatives and projects.
• Drive projects and initiatives for service management and improved on-time delivery from suppliers for all plants.
• Negotiate agreements with suppliers to optimize inventory, quality and cost and obtain the best terms and conditions for ABB.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in engineering, business, supply chain management or a related field.
• 7 years of experience in the position or 7 years performing supply chain management or sourcing activities supporting an entity's supply chain.
• 5 years of experience in category management, commodity strategy creation, and procurement and materials management for steel, copper, aluminum and zinc, including contract negotiation and stakeholder presentations.
• 3 years of project management experience, including change management.
• Telecommuting is permitted under company policy, but the candidate must live within commuting distance of the Plano, TX office.

Required skills

• MS Office: Word, PowerPoint and Excel (pivot tables and VLOOKUPs).
• Category management and commodity strategy development.
• Procurement contract negotiation and supplier negotiations.
