GL Accountant

About the role

My Financial Partner (MFP) provides fractional accounting support to a network of small businesses. As a GL Accountant you will handle core accounting functions for multiple client companies, ensuring accurate financial records and timely reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Record financial transactions in each client’s accounting system.
• Post customer payments, maintain up‑to‑date accounts receivable aging reports, and process vendor invoices.
• Code expenses, obtain payment authorizations, and schedule payments in an automated payable system.
• Reconcile bank and cash accounts to the general ledger.
• Process online payroll and post related entries.
• Prepare and reconcile fixed assets and review capitalization adjustments.
• Review trial balances pre‑close and post‑close, flagging anomalies for the controller.

Required profile

• Located in the ET or CT time zones.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including month‑end close, journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Experience in a team‑based or shared‑services accounting environment.
• Strong knowledge of accrual‑basis accounting and payroll‑related entries.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting while maintaining clear communication.
