GI Hospitalist – Inpatient Gastroenterology

About the role

Ochsner Health’s Department of Gastroenterology is seeking a board‑certified or board‑eligible gastroenterologist to join the Jefferson Highway Campus as a GI Hospitalist. The position focuses on inpatient, consultative and procedural care within a teaching hospital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide inpatient gastroenterology care, including consults and procedures such as EGD, colonoscopy, enteroscopy and PEG placement.
• Participate in a 7‑on/7‑off or 14‑on/14‑off schedule, collaborating with GI fellows, internal medicine residents and medical students.
• Work alongside dedicated hepatology and advanced endoscopy teams and maintain 24/7 hospitalist coverage.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or board‑eligible gastroenterologist.
• Willingness to learn deep enteroscopy techniques.
• Commitment to academic medicine and teaching of fellows and residents.

Required skills

• Proficiency in EGD, colonoscopy, enteroscopy and PEG procedures.
• Ability to perform or learn deep enteroscopy.
