Geotechnical Engineer (PE) – Anchorage

About the role

PND Engineers is expanding its geotechnical group and seeks a licensed or soon‑to‑be licensed Professional Engineer to support civil engineering projects across Alaska. Based in Anchorage, you will work on diverse projects ranging from marine and arctic structures to roads, bridges, and site development, with a strong focus on foundation systems.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare geological analyses, foundation designs, slope stability, permafrost, thermal, and seismic designs.
• Develop contract documents for marine, arctic, retaining wall, soil improvement, and infrastructure projects.
• Plan and execute on‑shore and off‑shore geotechnical investigations in urban, remote, frozen, and thawed ground settings.
• Translate fieldwork results into detailed technical reports that guide client decision‑making.
• Collaborate with the geotechnical team to solve complex engineering problems.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus.
• Three or more years of geotechnical consulting experience (candidates with less experience are welcome).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain an Alaska PE within six months.
• Experience in cold‑region foundation and permafrost/arctic engineering is highly desired.
• Strong written and oral English communication skills.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license, good driving record, and ability to travel to remote Alaskan sites.
• Permanent U.S. work authorization without employer sponsorship.
