Geospatial Intelligence & National Security Tech Internship (Fall 2026)

About the role

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) is seeking motivated college students or recent graduates for a Fall 2026 internship focused on geospatial intelligence and national security technologies. Interns will work with GIS, satellite remote sensing, and data‑visualization tools to support ISW’s analytical products and world‑renowned maps.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in collecting, processing, and visualizing geospatial data for intelligence analysis.
• Support the creation and refinement of GIS‑based visualizations used by analysts and policymakers.
• Collaborate with ISW’s technology partners such as Neo4j, Babel Street, Ntrepid, and Planet Labs.
• Participate in training sessions on GIS platforms and remote‑sensing software.
• Contribute to research reports and potentially co‑author publications under senior analyst mentorship.

Required profile

• Current undergraduate or graduate student in Geography, Geospatial Science, Computer Science, International Relations, or a related field.
• Strong interest in national security, open‑source intelligence, and policy analysis.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
