General Merchandise Manager

About the role

Meijer is hiring a General Merchandise Manager in West Chester. The manager is accountable for overall store operations and financial results, including shrink, productivity, safety, scheduling and staffing forecasts, and for team member engagement, recognition, feedback, coaching, performance management, training, development and succession planning.

Key responsibilities

• Engage with team members in span of care to ensure they receive onboarding, training, development, coaching and feedback.
• Identify talent and hold career discussions to build a diversified pipeline for team member and leadership roles.
• Hold candid conversations so Meijer standards are upheld and team members can grow within the organization.
• Own budget line items in the P&L and oversee corporate plans to maximize sales and productivity.
• Drive safety and compliance, condition management and adherence to compliance procedures.
• Ensure Team Leaders and Leads assign daily work and training needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly and precisely with team members.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information and make informed decisions.
• Strong business acumen and understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising.
