General Manager - Student Housing Community

About the role

Yugo, a global student housing operator, is hiring an Area General Manager for a community in Austin, Texas. Reporting to the Regional Property Manager, the GM leads on-site staff and drives results in student engagement, leasing, resident relations, marketing, budgeting and property performance.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise on-site staff and oversee rent collection, delinquency management and eviction processes in line with company policy and the law.
• Manage accounts receivable and payable, and coordinate leasing, marketing and resident retention to maximise occupancy and revenue.
• Monitor market trends and competitor pricing, review financial reports and budgets, and identify ways to increase revenue and reduce expenses.
• Help prepare annual operating and capital budgets, and investigate and resolve resident complaints and policy violations.
• Inspect the property regularly, ensure compliance with Fair Housing regulations and company policies, and oversee maintenance with the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Manage vendors and contractors, coordinate improvements and renovations, and recruit, train and coach team members.
• Maintain property records, leases and documentation, and partner with regional managers and corporate teams.

Required profile

• At least three years of supervisory experience, preferably in residential properties, rental operations or related business.
• Experience running a property, even better at a student or university residential building.
• Bachelor's degree in business or a related field preferred; equivalent experience is required in its place.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and experience in a fast-paced, target-driven sales and marketing environment.
• Proficiency with property management software such as Entrata, Yardi or Real Page, and willingness to learn Carbon Literacy certification.

• Salary of $85,000 - $90,000 per year, with bonus eligibility.
