General Avionics Technician - FAA

About the role

SkyWest Airlines, the largest independently owned regional airline, is hiring a General Avionics technician in Fresno, California. The technician works in an avionics shop performing testing, troubleshooting and component repairs, and may also work on aircraft systems. The position is full-time and is a Department of Transportation safety-sensitive role.

Key responsibilities

• Perform avionics checks and troubleshoot aircraft systems as needed.
• Maintain proficiency in completing all required documentation and paperwork.
• Repair avionics and electronic components in an avionics shop environment.
• Work on aircraft systems, including avionics and electrical systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Valid, unrestricted driver's license.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring manuals and schematics.
• Experience and training meeting at least one of: graduation from an accredited avionics school; military training in avionics or electronics; associate degree or higher in electronics; eighteen months of avionics industry experience; or A&P certification with prior avionics experience.
• FCC GROL license, or must obtain it within six months of hire.
• Able to lift up to 60 pounds routinely, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Required skills

• Use of component maintenance manuals to troubleshoot and test components.
• Use of aircraft manuals to troubleshoot and repair avionics and electrical systems.
• Basic avionics skills.
• Sound judgment in a team environment regarding aircraft maintenance and safety.
• Ability to provide the minimum required set of tools.
