Gas Station Team Leader

About the role

Meijer is looking for a Gas Station Team Leader in Lowell who plans, directs and supervises team members in the day-to-day operations of the store. The role acts as mentor and coach for all team members, drives customer service and sales while keeping the store looking good during peak hours, and is responsible for the P&L, sales and shrink of the department.

Key responsibilities

• Provide courteous, friendly and efficient service to customers and team members, and spend most of the time in the store.
• Handle staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs, and promote succession planning with career paths and promotion accountability.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations concerning discharge.
• Ensure the team is trained in all aspects of their jobs and has completed required training.
• Mentor and coach team members so that customer service and sales goals are exceeded and the area meets Meijer standards.
• Promote a safe work environment and communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings.
• Analyze financial and statistical information to make informed decisions and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational experience in other store areas such as meat, bakery, produce and deli, plus customer service and product flow experience, is helpful.
• Reliable and consistent attendance required.

Required skills

• Clear communication and conflict resolution, addressing root causes.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and to teach suggestive selling.
• Ability to lead a safe workplace and mentor team members, including hourly workers and team leaders.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.
