Fundamentals Visiting Professor (Lab)

About the role

Chamberlain University, the largest nursing school in the country, is looking for a part-time Fundamentals Visiting Professor (Lab) in Jacksonville, Florida. The course introduces students to the fundamental skills of professional nursing, including body mechanics, positioning and mobility, psychomotor skills, basic drug administration, teaching-learning principles and vital-sign assessment. The schedule is 4 hours per week, Monday to Saturday.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes and course objectives through clinical teaching and service to the College, community, health system and profession.
• Plan clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students delivering care to individuals or groups.
• Evaluate students, give documented feedback and offer remediation as needed.
• Keep current on agency and clinical policies and procedures with the help of agency personnel.
• Develop and post written clinical assignments and return homework, quizzes, tests and lab work in a timely manner.
• Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and the College, and keep the course coordinator informed of student and agency issues.
• May teach didactic content under the supervision of the course coordinator.
• Work with administration, staff and other faculty to improve operations and student satisfaction, and participate in the College Assessment Program and retention efforts.
• Serve as a professional role model and comply with all regulatory rules and standards.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Nursing (required).
• At least 2 years of recent nursing practice as a registered nurse within the last five years (required).
• Professional Nurse licensure in the state of practice (required).
• Excellent communication skills, initiative and prudent judgment.
